Timed Analysis of He's Just Not That Into You



0:00 to 0:14 - the opening shot fades in showing a children's park and begins to pan round the playground showing all the children playing.
0:07 title 'New Line Cinema Presents' fades in
0:10 title fades out
0:14- 0:16 the shot changes to a long shot of a young boy walking towards the camera
0:17- 0:18 the shot changes to a medium shot of a young girl building a sandcastle and an asynchronous non-diegetic monologue begins as the camera pans round the sand castle
0:19 the camera shot chases to a medium close up of the young boy
0:22 the shot returns to the girl however the boy can be scene in the right hand side of the screen
0:25 the shot returns to the medium close up of the boy as he reaches the girl
0:26 the shot then shows both of the as the boy pushes the girl
0:28 the shot changes to a high angle shot of the girl falling on to the sand.
0:29 digetic sound of the girl questioning the boy is used
0:31 the shot changes to a medium shot of the boy as he answers the girls question
0:32 - 0:38 shot reverse shot is used between the girl and the boy as he answers the question
0:38 the monologue returns over the top
0:39 the shot returns to the boy as he runs of
0:42 the shot changes to the young girl talking to her mother and shot reverse shot is used during their conversation as the mother comforts the girl, a long shot is used to show that they are still in the park (0:49) and zooms in back to the shot reverse shot.
0:57 a reaction shot is used to show the girls reaction to what her mother has said
1:03 the shot returns to shot reverse shot as their conversation continues
1:17 the scene changes to an older women cry as the camera zooms out we see she is with her friends
1:23 diegetic dialogue is used to show the friends consoling the girl
1:28 the shot changes to a close up of a phone
1:30 the shot then goes to a low angle shot looking up at 2 girls looking at the phone
1:31 the girl on the left of the screen then talk to the girl on the right about the reason thee guy hasn't phoned.
1:36 the scene changes again to 2 women in a kitchen and again the one of the women try to comfort the other about a man
1:41 the scene changes again to 2 women shopping, one is also trying to comfort another about the reason a guy hasn't phoned her. Subtitles are used to tell the audience what they are saying as they are speaking a different language. A traking shot is used as the women seem to walk out of the shop.
1:51 the scene changes to 2 women power walking a tracking shot is used as the continue to walk down the street again one is tell the other why a man hasn't been in touch
1;55 the scene changes again to an army training session where again a women is consoling another women. It uses a tracking shot as the women are running
1:59 the scene changes again and pans round a mud hut showing a change in community
2:03 a long shot is used to show 3 women working outside again subtitles are used to show the audience what they are saying as they are speaking a different language
2:09 the shot changes so it is next to the lady who was on the left of the screen  looking down the line while the one on the end of the line talks.
2:12 the monologue returns to over the top of the scene
2:14 the shot returns to panning around the community that the women were in
2:21- 2:23  the scene fade out to a black screen
2:24 to 2:27 the Title appears one word at a time 'He's just not that into you'
2:28 the word not turns green
2:31 the title fades out and music begins to play
